It seems they don’t make em like they used to. After entering service just over a month ago, MSC Seaside has changed its most recent itinerary due to engine problems. A letter from Captain Francesco Di Palma explained to the passengers that there was a significant, ongoing technical problem with the engine’s software that was ultimately unable to be solved.
The onboard technical team worked tirelessly with specialized personnel who boarded the ship in Grand Cayman, but the repair could not be made, and the ship would have to revise its Itinerary. Instead of sailing on to Ocho Rios, the ship had to sail at a reduced speed to Ocean Cay, before finishing up the sailing in Miami.
The cruise line announced that guests would receive a 50% refund for the current sailing as well as a full reimbursement for any shore excursions booked in Ocho Rios.
