So you want to start a cruise line
Seatradecruise.com is hosting a yearly trade show called Seatrade global, which kicks off on Sunday, March 26th, and runs through Thursday march 30th. Various cruise industry executives and dignitaries will be on hand to host conferences and networking events at one of the most well-attended events of its kind.
To promote creativity and fun, the organizers are creating a “shark tank style” event called “So You Want to Start a Cruise Line.” Travel advisors and would-be attendees are given the opportunity to submit a 500-word essay on what unique and original components they would introduce to a cruise line that THEY invented. These can be structure, policy, product or event-driven, but must be submitted by 11:59 pm on Tuesday, March 24th.
If chosen, contestants will be invited on stage to present their ideas for their cruise line to a panel made up of cruise executives and venture capitalists. “Your concept may be a new theme, special itinerary, unique concept said Peter Shaerf, managing director at AMA Capital Partners. Contestants who do get selected to present will receive a complimentary pass to the entire week’s events.
“So You Want to Start a Cruise Line” will take place from 2:15 to 3:45 on Tuesday, March 28th. While this should be a fun exercise and might attract some questions from major cruise executives, it will be mostly for entertainment purposes only.
